- The recent pandemic has opened the eyes of many to just how short life is.
- There are many frugal ways to celebrate Mother's Day.
According to the National Retail Federation, consumers are expected to spend up to $3.6 billion more on Mother's Day gifts this year compared to 2021. The history of Mother’s Day involves a mother, Ann Reeves Jarvis, who first created this term called Mother’s Day in 1907. In 1914, then-President Woodrow Wilson declared Mother’s Day a national holiday in the United States.
In the present day, the recent pandemic has opened the eyes of many when it comes to realizing just how short life truly is. Between the world being shut down for quite some time, many jobs being lost, and social distancing being set into place, many have not been able to spend time with their parents.
The latest eye-opener has also taught us that life isn't always about spending hundreds of dollars when it comes to our loved ones. There are many frugal ways to shower mom with gifts for this year's Mother's Day holiday. Below are eight ways to make your mom's heart smile this Mother's Day without having to spend a ton of money.
1. Learn a Tik Tok Trend Together
Spend time with mom this holiday learning a new TikTok trend or dance.
Find something not only you will enjoy but mom as well. TikTok has helped many families bond on a different level, from simply watching videos and creating new trends.
This popular phone app is made for more than dancing and singing. It also has taken part in educating the masses on many different subject matters. Type into the subject bar something that you know mom will enjoy for a world of ideas on what videos to recreate.
2. Paint and Sip
You can paint and sip from the convenience of your home or go to your local paint and sip. Enjoy the relaxation of painting while sipping on your favorite beverage with mom.
Paint and sips also welcome you to bring in your favorite snacks. Take pictures and send them to her as a reminder of life's most precious and sacred moments to remember.

3. Regift Unused Items
It may sound like a bad idea, but it is even worse knowing you have received a gift from a friend you will never use.
No one has to know that you are regifting. If you are sure it will be put to good use rather than sitting in one spot, then regifting is your best bet.
Regift that item that has been sitting on your counter for months. Chances are, mom will know just what to do with it. After all, it is the thought that counts.

4. Quality Time (No Electronics)
Nothing is better than spending quality time with our loved ones without the interruption of electronics.
Take it back to the good old days before technology took over our lives. Lay in bed, go for a walk, watch a movie, or sit on the porch with mom and reminisce and talk about life's greatest accomplishments. Showing gratitude for what you have helps mom to feel grateful as well for all that she has created. Without her, there would be no you.
The time you spend without the electronics will be the greatest reset you didn't know you needed.

5. Go to Brunch
Mother's Day should be a day when mom should not have to do anything except enjoy the feeling of being loved. But, of course, she should also be treated to good food and drinks.
Taking mom for brunch is a very popular way to celebrate her special day. Good food and even better conversation is a memory of a lifetime.
Make brunch more personable and cook at home. It can be as simple as chicken, waffles, and mimosas. Mom is guaranteed to love every bit.
6. Breakfast in Bed
The very moment that mom opens her eyes is the moment that your love for her on this special day should start to show.
Entice mom with a wonderful breakfast in bed. Nothing shows more love to her than her not having to lift a finger from the time she gets up until the time she gets back into bed at the end of the day.
7. Spa Day
Treating mom to something as inexpensive as a spa day will bring much peace and relaxation.
Visit your local cosmetology school for a nice day of pampering. Getting a massage from a certified professional will help you, and your mom relax and reduce her stress. I call that a win, win!

8. Personalized Gifts
Personalized gifts do a long way. They are far more sentimental than simply going to the store and just picking up anything.
Canvases, jewelry, or clothing items with life's most memorable moments engraved make the best gifts. Each time mom picks it up or sees it, she will surely think of you.
The Money Wrap-Up
Deciding what to get mom for Mother's Day does not have to be stressful or expensive. For a mom, it is all about feeling loved and having her children around.
No matter how old you get, you will always be your mom's baby. She will love you no matter what, so it's important to go the extra mile for her on Mother's Day to show the same love in return.
